Building a high performing Lightning Network node is no trivial task, especially when trying not to connect to the same nodes as everyone else!
We were very selective in the nodes that we connected to. We worked methodically to balance well-connected, large liquidity central nodes with smaller, edge of the universe nodes that increased our rank and ensured low costs.

We ran simulations at LNnodeinsight to see what would happen when we added certain other nodes to our network. Then analyzed nodes overlapping or unconnected nodes resulted in different value changes to our centrality scores.
